  1. Why reinvent the wheel? Board meetings have been on the 2nd Monday of the month for years...why change?

  2. Because they can. That's our new, improved board.

  3. Probably the same reason the Lowman voters can't vote on the levy...

  4. They can vote they need to vote, absentee if necessary, go to the boise county web site http://www.boisecounty.us/Elections.aspx and fill out an absentee ballot request do it now, before it’s to late. This board has not told us what this levy is for. Are they bringing back a music or arts program? Hiring more teachers for smaller class sizes? What?
TO PROVIDE MONEY FOR THE MAINTENANCE AND OPERATION OF THE DISTRICT AND PURPOSES AS AUTHORIZED BY LAW AS PROVIDED BY IDAHO CODE SECTION 33-802(4).
What does this mean? Give us the money and we will do as we please. Sorry, this board has not shown me that my tax dollars will actually be going for the students. I’m voting NO if we are going to pay thousands more in taxes we need to know how it will be spent.

  5. Check out http://www.GVSchoolLevy.com

    Very interesting.

  6. Seeing as how Tomlin and Fox made a HUGE $100K mistake in estimating revenue, I'd guess thats one place the money will go. But why not call Paula Fox at the school and ask? She's the business manager, she should know the answers.

  7. Gee, Anon 8:21 PM,

Did YOU create that website? I will be voting YES on the levy. I actually care about our school, our kids. Couldn't care less about vindictive people that are now trying to get the levy to fail when they had tried to get it passed earlier this year - when it would have been a feather in Tomlin's cap.

  8. You must have money to burn. Care about the kids but can’t resist slamming Tomlin? Who is vindictive? I said No last time and I’m saying No this time. I don’t have money to throw away on peoples petty arguments. Let this board and their friends pony up the money to pay the legal fees they created.

  9. THERE WAS NO $100K mistake. It's called one person's opinion over the other. The budget was based on units that are driven from attendance. Tomlin estimated 16 units. Koshuta estimated 15.3 assuming less attendance.
Tomlin was hoping homeschoolers and others would attend and was thinking positive.

  10. Tomlin was "hoping"? He was thinking "positive"? I imagine this was based on the startling improvement with his community relations.

    ReplyDelete
  11. He has WONDERFUL relationships with the community. YOU must be refering to the small *Friends* group that are evil. Nope, wrong community.

  12. Great website for the levy..I love it, and it convinced me more than ever to vote NO! This levy will not pass, that's for sure. Take a trip down to the Merc and listen to what fellow residents are saying. I was at the local burger shack the other day and the conversation came up at the table behind me. I heard them say "so they hired a new super? He'll be there 6 months and they'll kick his butt to the curb just like the others...these people are crazy". This was a local who has lived here forever saying this. These people are fed up with school issues, and this new board is making it worse than ever!

  13. You don't think this board is corrupt???? Go to the other story Angel has written and watch the Youtube video from a recent board meeting where the chair is "warning" a fellow trustee to watch what he says. Scared the crap out of the new guy...he was left speechless not knowing what to say. What is the chair so afraid of? What was he going to say? Talk about "intimidating people"....holy cow...check that mess out!

    ReplyDelete
  14. Wow. A lot of you are talking about legal fees that the current board is creating? What about the legal fees created by the outgoing board?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I have seen the video. Don't get what all of the uproar is about. I don't see anything in that video that would indicate the current board is corrupt, either. It seems to me that the attempt at intimidation is being made by edunn sitting in the front row recording the meetings, and it worked.

I have no quarrel with meetings being recorded, that is anyone's right. I just think it's funny how quick people are to jump to conclusions. Why don't you try asking your board member some questions?

  16. "Why don't you try asking your board member some questions?"

4:23, I've asked my board member (and the others) questions and have been repeatedly ignored.

  17. The old super brought a balanced budget proposal to the board and community his last meeting. Probably why these rubes can't stand him. His budget didn't need $300,000 a year in new local taxes.

$300,000? That is almost 10 teacher salaries; or a little over two years of salary and benefits for the new super. Sweet.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Annon 5:24...I agree. The old supers budget was perfect, and now people have come on board, thinking they know it all, and changed everything. Hire a new super at an outrageous rate, give the School Secretary a 10,000.00 raise, move the counselor to full time, bring back the art teacher that had already retired. No wonder they need the 600,000.00 levy!

  19. I've asked board members questions and have never been ignored.....wait, I was ignored by J. Ward and T. Elmore but not the current board. They are responsive and polite unlike the other two.

And the "secretary" didn't get a raise. Why don't you check it out yourself. The records are public. That's just more lies from your side.

The budget from Tomlin was very far from perfect - another fact you can check out for yourself but of course won't because it doesn't serve your own agenda.

The only person who regularly used the word "rubes" is Tomlin himself. He should probably let this go and go look for a job.

You folks are nuts and only concern yourself with protecting one person - who cares about the students and teachers - right? Sickening.

  20. Glad to know Tomlin has the English language copyrighted. You need to get out more.

The payment for GVSD school secretary was increased from $26,000 to $36,000. Check it out.

  21. Anon 11:55,

You were ignored by trustees? That is bad, and they are gone. Good enough.

Help us maintain the same standard for the new crew.
