Channel 7 KTVB Reports Story That Hasn't Happened Yet!

KTVB reporter, Scott Evans, is psychic. In an amazing feat of extrasensory perception, he divined a story about Garden Valley School Superintendent Dr. Mike Tomlin, which won't happen until Monday, June 6, 2011 !

Information about the supposed administrative leave of Tomlin was leaked psychically to Channel 7, by Idaho World Reporter Kathleen Wilson, who was at the May 31 special budget meeting, where nothing happened. Although board member Rob Hazen moved to go into executive session, this was not on the board’s agenda; board member Alan Ward, seconded the motion; the body then went into executive session. Wilson is quoted as saying the move appeared unexpected to Tomlin and the Chair of the Board, Terry Elmore. Trustee Jeff Bass was in Texas on fire call.

Those present at the meeting say when the board came out of executive session, they closed the meeting.

According to all eye and ear witness accounts, the placing of Tomlin on leave never occurred. Yet, according to Wilson and Evans, the information was leaked to them. How dependable is a leak that hasn't happened and cannot be corroborated? How responsible are reporters and the media if they do not corroborate their information? 'KTVB's Scott Evans called the district offices and asked for Tomlin. He was told that he was not there because he was placed on leave.'
Was this the school secretary they used as corroboration?

Kathleen Wilson and Scott Evans and the media organizations they represent have once again provided fodder for the ruination of the reputation of Mike Tomlin. Is this the way we want to be informed? Is this upholding moral and humane ethics?

The facts are: There could be no legal corroboration of this non-event of an illegal executive session of the school board, and there could be no legal corroboration of any illegal executive session decisions without the illegal leaking of information by a school board trustee. Okay, aside from assuming that a television reporter should know that office staff  cannot legally corroborate executive session school board actions on personnel, legal or not, where did the secretary get this information? From a school board trustee, who handed her the illegal bombshell.

This meeting was illegal, as evidenced by the panicky dissemination of the emergency meeting agenda, which will take place on Monday, June 6, on which agenda is listed 'Consideration to place Superintendent on administrative leave.'

So, let me get this straight. You unexpectedly called an executive session for a last minute amendment to a special Budget Hearing meeting, to get rid of your CEO, when you knew the second most senior trustee and supporter of Dr. Tomlin would be out of town. You sent Tomlin a letter in an illegal action, placing him on illegal administrative leave, then illegally requested his return of school keys, and gee, not even giving him time to return them!

Then, because he didn't return them (within hours?) of receiving the illegal letter, someone breaks into Tomlin's office. The vandalism is reported to Channel 7 news, but we can't know the culprits, who have admitted to the crime, because District personnel can't talk about personnel and this is now under investigation by the County Sheriff. But everyone else can talk , it seems.

Let's see. Who did leak the illegal info from the illegal session? It had to be a board member, yes. Who would want the keys back from Tomlin, so quickly that they would break into his office and do what we can't talk about? Probably the same person, correction, people, who wanted him out. Who called the sudden, unexpected executive session? What is it they could have been looking for in Tomlin's office? If it was evidence to use against Tomlin, it became contaminated by them. If  it was evidence he could have used against them, did they find it?

Well, if board members can illegally leak illegal information and journalists can leak the illegal leaks bigtime, making sure Tomlin has more incredibility than ever, I can suggest that you look at the facts and the people.

KTVB got one thing right if you make it 2008: 'Since early (2010), a group in Garden Valley has worked to remove Tomlin from his position. The school board has faced a handful of recalls and turnover since Tomlin was hired.'

Yes, this group is vicious, dishonest and self-serving. I suggest here that you watch who shows up in the removal-replacement category for Superintendent. I suggest you think about it very, very seriously. It has major implications of collusion and corruption.
