Current Situation:   The dozer work on the contingency line closest to Terrace Lakes has been completed.  The second contingency line, which is closer to the fire, is almost in place.  Firefighters expect to have it completed by the end of shift today.  Portable water tanks for filling engines will be placed near these lines.  In the event that the fire makes a run towards the subdivisions, firefighters will have access to water and a good fire break to help stop the fire.
~
The priority today is to continue fireline construction on the north end of the fire between Zimmer Creek and Eddy Creek.   Line construction will also continue on the southeast corner as firefighters work to connect and improve existing firelines.  Crews will mop up and patrol the remaining fire perimeter where containment has been achieved.
~
Weather:  Monsoonal moisture is moving up from the south, but will remain south of the fire area.  High pressure from the south and low pressure north of the fire will cause breezy conditions over the next two days.  Winds are predicted to come out of the west at 8 to 14 mph gusting to 22 mph in the afternoon.  The inversion is expected to hold over the fire area until midafternoon.
~
Public Safety:    The public is reminded to not travel into the fire area and to use caution when traveling on roads used by firefighting personnel.  Firefighters need to focus on their fire suppression tasks and additional traffic can distract them from their mission.
~
Places to Get More Information:  An information station has been set up at the Terrace Lakes maintenance shop (across from the golf course).  The station is staffed with personnel providing fire and preparedness information.  In addition, information boards have been established at the Garden Valley Work Center (Forest Service), Crouch Market,  Garden Valley Post Office, and Terrace Lakes Club House.
