It’s a small world but in America the beautiful, you can always find an American hero to skip to my lou with. Upon coming home from a distant land, it is written upon a star that this land is your land and you’ll never walk alone in the Red River Valley . How can I keep from singing when I’m homeward bound? I am a small part of the world but I feel my Savior’s love when in Shenandoah. In the merry, merry month of May, the edelweiss are simple gifts.
If you found eighteen songs, the Garden Valley Community Choir wants you. Rehearsals are held every Tuesday evening, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m., in the LDS Church music room. There is so much laughter and delight in this room during these nights, if you love to sing, you will love this choir.
Directed by Gary Sherwood, and accompanied by Karen Brazell, the choir celebrated its seventh Christmas season last December and is now just getting started on the repertoire for its spring concert, which will be presented to the community in early May. Some members join in just for the rehearsals, and that is okay—there are no requirements.
Whether you are an experienced musician or simply enjoy music, you will be welcomed to the group, even if you didn’t find all eighteen songs. There is opportunity for you to sing solo or with a small step-out group, if performing is really your bag. Find your niche and go with it.
For information about the choir, contact Gary Sherwood, at 462-2500, or Richard Wilson, at 462-2250—or just show up!
